PADI Instructor Training
Recent changes to the PADI IDC (Instructor Development Course) breaks instructor training into two parts. The PADI AI (Assistant Instructor) program which was optional
before on the path from PADI Divemaster to PADI Instructor has become the first part of the revised IDC curriculum.
The IDC which was 7 days before this change is still 7 days. The new revised AI curriculum is now the first 3 days of the IDC and the last 4 days is now called the OWSI
(Open Water SCUBA Instructor) course.
If you think that you will skip taking the AI course and go straight from PADI Divemaster to OWSI through a complete IDC offerred by a PADI Course Director think again.
Every PADI Course Director will now teach you the 3-day AI course and then the 4-day OWSI course.
Any PADI IDC Staff Instructor who has been updated by a PADI Course Director is eligible to teach the new AI curriculum. This means that any updated PADI IDC Staff
Instructor can teach the first three days of the new IDC.
When becoming a PADI Instructor you learn rescue techniques during your PADI Rescue Diver course. You then learn the necessary technical knowledge while taking your PADI
Divemaster course. You learn how to teach in the classroom, in confined water and in open water during an Assistant Instructor course. This means that a technically
knowlegable IDC Staff Instructor with great teaching experience and excellent teaching ability can teach you how to be a PADI Instructor.
Well, almost! You need a PADI Course Director to present some parts of the 4-day OWSI curriculum. Tim Aukshun is the most experienced Course Director in the Philippines
and has provided training to most of the other Course Directors.
Tim Aukshun offers the PADI Medic First Aid Instructor rating as part of his OWSI training.
We offer a complete, practical and comprehensive Rescue Diver program, a technically excellent PADI Divemaster program, and a superior AI program guaranteed to prepare
you for the PADI Instructor Examination.
